Downtown Princeton Inc. is granted Indiana Main Street Designation

Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann announced that Downtown Princeton Inc. will join more than 100 other Indiana Main Street (IMS) Communities dedicated to the revitalization of their downtown areas.

“I am pleased to welcome Downtown Princeton, Inc. to the Indiana Main Street Program,” said Lt. Governor Ellspermann. “Viable downtowns are crucial to the economic health of our state. By joining Indiana Main Street, Princeton has taken an important step to developing a thriving downtown.”

IMS was established to provide economic revitalization and professional assistance to participating communities. The program encourages the revitalization and restoration of downtown areas in Indiana cities and towns.

Community Pride Festival rolls into Fort Branch

Carnival rides and food vendors are rolling in for the Fort Branch Community Pride Festival. The festival starts Thursday and runs through Saturday. 

Officals say the community wanted the festival to be more like a real carnival, which meant carnival rides. 

A merry-go-round and old favorite, The Scrambler, are just a few of the attractions this year. 

And if you've got some pipes, the Fort Branch Idol competition might be for you. The winner receives $150 grand prize!

Princeton teen dragged by train in "pretty good spirits"

PRINCETON, IN (WFIE)-

Family members in Gibson County say the boy who was dragged by a train on Monday in Princeton had to have part of his arm amputated. 
14 News spoke to those family members, including the cousin who helped saved 15-year-old Alex Abell.

The tracks at the intersection of Embree and State Streets in Princeton is where young Alex was dragged by that train. Alex suffered some very serious injuries.

Toyota adding almost 100 new jobs

PRINCETON, IN (WFIE)- Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Indiana has announced the will hire another 90 production team members by the end of July.

It's part of their preparation for the all-new Toyota Highlander later this year, as well as hybrid and export models.

By the end of July, Toyota Indiana will have hired 446 production team members, 46 more than planned when the $400 million Highlander expansion was announced in February 2012. 

Downtown Princeton to become Main Street Community

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- Downtown Princeton, Inc. will officially be designated as a Main Street Community on June 6.

Indiana Main Street will host a certificate presentation at the gazebo located in the northwest corner of the Gibson County Courthouse lawn, beginning at 9 a.m.

Indiana Main Street is a program that encourages the revitalization and restoration of downtown areas in Indiana cities and towns. It also provides technical assistance and educational opportunities to participating communities.

13-year-old Princeton boy seriously injured after being dragged by train

PRINCETON, IN (WFIE)- A 13-year-old Princeton boy is in the hospital Monday night after being dragged by a train.
