Run for the Wall: Riders to pass through area next week

If you see a huge group of motorcycles rolling through Posey and Gibson County on I-64 next Tuesday,  give them a wave.

They’re with Run for the Wall, a group of veterans from all over the United States who are riding motorcycles to Washington to gather at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Memorial Day.

This year is their 25th year for the run.

They will be stopping for gas at the Flying J on Hwy 41 & I-64 on Tues, May 21, somewhere around 4:00 pm. There are usually over 500 bikers that come through the area each year.

Three SW Indiana bridges being named after local troopers who died in the line of duty

TRI-STATE (WFIE)- Each day officers put their lives on the line, and each year Indiana State Police honor the sacrifice of those who have died with a memorial service.

The tradition continues Wednesday morning at the ISP post with a special dedication ceremony.

The service begins with a traditional roll call of ISP units killed in the line of duty, after each name called, troopers fire off a single shot.

This year three highway bridges in Southwestern Indiana are being named after local officers.

Patoka River levels continue to drop

Patoka River levels continue to drop

Like all tri-state rivers, water levels on the Patoka in Gibson County continues to fall.

Thanks to a few dry days in the tri-state, and upriver in central Indiana, area rivers are in much better shape then they were just a week ago.

As of Tuesday morning, the Patoka at Princeton was at 10.89 feet and continues to slowly fall.  Considering flood stage is 18 feet, this is a big improvement.

Although rain is in the forecast for Thursday and Friday, heavy, steady rain doesn't look like it will be a problem.
