Friday morning, October 26, at approximately 11:30, Indiana State Police and members of the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Dustin Eugene Cox, 22, of Hazelton, for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, a Class D Felony.
Detectives from the Indiana State Police Cyber Crimes Section were conducting compliance checks in Gibson County to ensure convicted sex offenders were registering as required by law. During their investigation they determined Cox, a convicted sex offender, had moved in early July from an address in Vincennes to an address in Hazelton. They say Cox failed to inform the Gibson County Sheriff’s Department of his recent move to 107 North Tennessee Street in Hazelton.
He was arrested at his residence without incident and taken to the Gibson County Jail where he is currently being held on a $750 cash bond.
