Patoka man sentenced for Blue Beacon robbery

New developments in an armed robbery case in Gibson County.  Larry Davis was sentenced to ten years in prison for his role in the January robbery at the Blue Beacon Truck Wash in Haubstadt.  He'll receive credit for time served.

Our media partners at the Princeton Daily Clarion report that Davis accepted a plea deal which requires him to testify against co-defendant Branden Walburn.

Patoka man facing rape charges

A 20-year-old Patoka man was arrested Friday on charges of rape and criminal deviate conduct.

The Gibson County Sheriff’s office says Sidney C. Jones allegedly raped the victim in rural Patoka on March 18 after they met through an online social networking site several months earlier.  The alleged victim and Jones only met in person the day before.

His bond was set at $20,000.

The woman in the case was examined at Gibson General Hospital by a trained S.A.N.E (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner).

An Oakland City man was sentenced to 12 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections Friday after pleading guilty to Manufacturing of Methamphetamine, a Class B felony.  Brent W. Folsom of 5217 South SR 57, also ped guilty to several other meth and marijuana-related charges.

Supreme Court won't hear McCarter case

The Indiana Supreme Court has refused to hear the case of a Vincennes man whose felony sexual battery conviction in Gibson County was overturned by an appellate court in March.

According to a story in the Princeton Daily Clarion, the ruling means 23-year-old Mitchell A. McCarter will not have to register as a sexual offender.  McCarter was arrested in April 2010 for posing as an undercover police officer and intimidating a 16-year-old girl at Walmart in Princeton.

Gibson County kicks off Crime Victim Rights Week

Gibson County Prosecutor Robert Krieg announced that the week of April 22-28 is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. This year’s theme is “Extending the Vision. Reaching Every Victim”, which reflects the ideals that we all seek to realize in the struggle for victims’ rights.

Krieg said his office takes seriously its duty to work with victims of crime in Gibson County.  His office employs a full-time Victims’ Advocate, Sheryl Walker-Isakson, who helps educate and inform victims who suffer from crimes committed in the county. Krieg also noted that in addition to helping victims of crime, Walker-Isakson also performs many other tasks, including assisting those in need of a protective order and helping to find temporary shelter for victims of domestic violence.

Most wanted suspect captured in Arizona

A Princeton man wanted in Gibson County has been taken into custody in Arizona.

Derrick Agnew had been listed on Gibson County's "most wanted" roster for several weeks.  .

Sheriff George says his office was notified Monday evening of the arrest. Agnew is sought on suspicion of violating bond posted on a charge of dealing methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a park, and a new charge of robbery.

Off-duty trooper nabs impaired driver after morning chase

From Indiana State Police:

Tuesday morning, February 28, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Trooper John Davis was off-duty and driving his fully marked patrol car westbound on S.R. 64 near the Gibson County line when he observed a Buick Park Avenue traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed. 

Davis was able to activate his radar unit and clock the vehicle at 91 mph.  Davis attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued eastbound at a high rate of speed and at one point drove left of center near a hillcrest and forced several westbound vehicles off the roadway.  The vehicle continued north onto S.R. 61, but Davis terminated the chase once the vehicle entered Winslow.
