Oakland City, IN (WFIE) - There's a pork chop dinner planned to raise money for the Masonic Lodge in Oakland City.
Like most of of the town, the building was badly damaged this summer by hail.
Officials with the lodge tell us the insurance estimate is much lower than the low bid for repairs. They say about $12,000 is needed.
The dinner is November 3 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge. It's on Main Street across from Fifth Third Bank.
1 1/4" smoked pork chops from Dewig's Meats plus plus baked potatoes, green beans, and other fixings will be served. You can eat at the lodge, carry out, or delivery will also be offered.
The cost is $12.50 per meal for tickets in advance and $13.00 at the door.
There are signs posted throughout town with contact information to reserve your ticket. Here are the numbers:
Alan Haines - 749-3054
Carl Shomate - 385-6631
Steve Uppencamp - 664-4166
Alan Whitman - 664-1306
Officials say anyone wanting to make donations will receive a certificate of recognition.
The Masonic Lodge was charted in Oakland City in 1873. The building needing the repairs was built in 1928.
