Bone marrow registry planned in honor of girl with cancer

She's a leukemia warrior we've told you about before on our 14 News community websites - Evalynn Willis, now two years old, has been fighting since she was just five months old.

Her family has made dozens of trips for treatments at St. Jude in Memphis, as well many trips to Louisville.

Doctors say Evalynn herself does not need a bone marrow transplant at this point, but there are many others just like her who do. Of those needing a transplant, many are simply waiting to find a match to save their lives.

That's where you could help.

Sheriff's office holding annual supper

The Gibson County Sheriff's Office will hold its annual ham and bean supper at the Haubstadt Community Park (249 E 1100 S) on March 21 at 6 PM.

Menu includes:
ham and bean soup
meat and cheese tray
relish tray
corn bread
refreshments

The sheriff's office will be circulating questionnaires during the supper, aimed at helping them serve the community in the best way possible.

Gibson County holding heath fair for county employees March 1

Gibson County will host its first ever Employee Health Fair on Friday, March 1.  According to Jennifer Tuley of the Gibson County Health Department, it is the first time they have addressed health and wellness promotion for county employees.

The county health department together with Gibson General Hospital, Tulip Tree Family Health Care, and Tobacco Free Gibson County are sponsoring the event, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gibson County Red Cross Building, 312 W. State Street, Princeton.

Oliver North coming to Princeton

Oliver North coming to Princeton

Oliver North will headline the Gibson County Republican Party’s February dinner.

The former Marine colonel and author will appear at an event at Princeton Community High School February 23.

Following the event, North will speak at the annual GOP Lincoln Dinner at the Camp Carson Lodge.

Assigned to the National Security Council staff in the Reagan administration, Lt. Col. North was the United States government’s counter-terrorism coordinator from 1983-1986.

Dr. Martin Luther King celebrated with concert, banquet

St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 622 East Emerson will host a Jan. 19 gospel concert in conjunction with three days of Dr. Martin Luther King Day celebrations in the Princeton area.

A banquet featuring keynote speaker Dr. Brian J. Wells, who is pastor and vice president of academic affairs at Simmons Bible College in Louisville, Ky., will be hosted by St. Paul church at Greater Holy Temple Church of God in Christ fellowship hall, 202 East Pinkney, on Sunday, Jan. 20.  Tickets for the meal and event are $7 per person.
