The demolition derby at the Gibson County Fair has always been a staple event, but this year the drivers aren't exactly trained professionals - they're all first timers.  Another thing they have in common - they're all local celebrities.    

Cars were stripped, designed and were driven   Princeton police, the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, firemen and a local radio station, among others.

The cars battled it out until only one would remain.

It's been a stormy couple of days in southwest Indiana but the show goes on at the 156th Gibson County Fair.

It's Kiddie Day today and the demolition derby is on the docket for tonight.

Roy Rogers Centennial Celebration planned

Fans of the late Roy Rogers will gather in Gibson County July 22-24 for a Roy Rogers Centennial Celebration.

Rogers was one of the nation's most loved Western film and recording artist from the golden age of Hollywood,

The three-day event, presented by the Henager Museum, will also help raisefunds for the National Veterans Memorial organizer James Henager is planning in Buckskin.

There will be events for children and adults including a concert Saturday night with what Henager says will be "well known western musicians".

Beekeeping group will host national convention in SW Indiana

Beekeeping group will host national convention in SW Indiana

The tenth annual Heartland Apicultural Society (HAS) Conference will be July 7-9 at Vincennes University.  HAS is a regional beekeeping group representing eight Midwestern states and everyone is welcome to attend the conference.

A list of topics that will be covered is available at the group’s web site, Heartlandbees.com.  There are classes for everyone, from beginner to advanced, and there is even a course to teach how to raise queen bees.

Most topics will be presented twice.  In the world of beekeeping, many of the speakers are well known throughout the Unit
