Cruzin' for Critters Car Show

Love cars?  Love animals?  Make plans to attend the “Cruzin’ For Critters Car Show”, hosted by Gibson County Animal Services at the Gibson County Fairgrounds on Sunday June 17.  Registration is from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The first 50 cars will get a free dash plaque.  The top 35 in show win specialty trophies.

There will be music, food, door prizes and more.

Proceeds will help stray animals in Gibson County.

 

Benefit dinner and auction

A dinner and auction will be held this Saturday at Mackey Church of the Nazarene to help pay for an area resident's medical needs.

Tomi Ramsey has autoimmune autonomic ganglionapthy, which is an acquired disorder of the autonomic nervous system.

Friday is National Donut Day and some local shops are celebrating by giving away one freebie.  Kempf's Donut Bank is handing out the tasty treats with any other purchase.

Dunkin Donuts in Owensboro is giving a free donut of any kind as long as you buy a beverage.

All Krispy Kreme US shops including the one on Burkhardt Road are handing theirs out free with no purchase required--any variety you like.

Bake sale Saturday for little girl with cancer

Two Oakland City girls have taken it upon themselves to organize a bake sale for a little girl with cancer.

Evalynn Willis turned a year old in February, and has been battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at St. Jude's since she was 5 months old.

Evalynn's family lives in Newburgh, but goes to church in Oakland City.

Two girls from that church's kid's group will be set up at Fred's Pharmacy Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Mad Max's 5th Annual Ride For The Kids

Dry and humid weather for Saturday's Mad Max's Ride For The Kids at Riley. All activities will take place Saturday, May 19 at the Gibson County Fairgrounds in Princeton.

Kids fun from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. include face painting, carnival games, and the Hadi Shrine Clowns.

Car show from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and the Demolition Derby starts at 5:00 p.m.

Local bands hit the stage at 8:30 p.m. kicking off the concert.

Dept. of Child Services displays adoptable children’s portraits at Toyota

A compelling exhibit featuring photographic portraits of children in need of adoptive families, the Indiana Heart Gallery, is stopping by the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Plant, 4000 South Tulip Tree Drive in Princeton, May 11 - 18.  The Indiana Department of Child Services uses the Heart Gallery to help raise awareness about the approximately 300 Hoosier children currently in foster care still in need of a forever home.

Art Among the Azaleas set for Saturday

Saturday may be Derby Day, but before the Run for the Roses you can walk through the Azaleas...and check out some art in the process.

The Azalea Path Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is hosting the Art Among the Azaleas artist showcase Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

Tickets are $15 and include artist demonstrations with complimentary beverages and hors d'oeuvres as well as live entertainment and wine tasting.
