Agility Club of Evansville hosting spring AKC dog trials at Fairgrounds

The Agility Club of Evansville will host it's annual Spring AKC Agility Trials on March 10-11 at the Gibson County Fairgrounds.  The trials will feature dogs from several states competing. 

Competing dogs will test their speed and accuaracy with tunnels, jumping, climbing and weaving.

Competition begins at 8:00 A.M and ends when last dog runs, usually around 3:00 P.M.

There is no charge to observe, but please do not bring unentered dogs.

Gospel musician Jerry Hay coming to Ft. Branch

Youth pastor and musician Jerry Hay will bring his gospel/bluegrass music to Ft. Branch Church of the Nazarene this Saturday and Sunday.

The Columbia, South Carolina resident plays guitar, banjo, bass, mandolin, dobro, drums just about any other string instrument he can find. 

He'll play at the church Saturday at 6 p.m. and during Sunday morning worshipo at 10:30.

Homeland Security Community Academy

Homeland security begins with security on the home front.  Individual citizens can play a significant role in community awareness by learning about such timely issues as emergency management, international and domestic terrorism, and even weapons of mass destruction.

These topics and more will be covered in a Homeland Security Community Academy program to be offered by Vincennes University.  Enrollment is free and lunch will be provided.  The first Academy will be on March 24 at VU’s Gibson County Center located in Fort Branch.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana will open its visitors center on Saturday for guests to experience interactive exhibits about Toyota’s history, manufacturing processes and environmental commitment.

Plant tours will take visitors by tram through body welding and vehicle assembly shops.

Tour times are 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Hoosiers encouraged to register for 'Shakeout' earthquake prep

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) is encouraging all Hoosiers to register and participate in the 2012 Great Central United States ShakeOut February 7.

“Participating in the ShakeOut takes only a few minutes and provides Hoosiers the opportunity to increase their awareness about earthquake potential in our state,” said IDHS Executive Director Joe Wainscott. “We encourage everyone to participate in this event and learn how to prepare and protect yourself from earthquakes.”
