Speeding stop leads to jail for trio of women | News
Three people from outside Gibson County were arrested Saturday night after a sheriffs deputy stopped their car for speeding and discovered marijuana inside.
The sheriff's office says a deputy heading north on US 41 about 7:27 was passed by the black car traveling at a high rate of speed.
The deputy made a traffic stop and upon approaching the vehicle, he says he smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana.
Arrested were Mariah M. Dorn, 22, of Newport, IN, Evelyn M. Hooker, 48, of New Market, AL and Melissa L. Stacey, 27, of Chrisman, IL. They've been charged with Possession of Marijuana under 30 grams and Possession of Paraphernalia.
All three were taken to the Gibson County Jail on $2,600 bond.
