Grants to assist Oakland City with community improvements | News

The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs recently announced that Oakland City was awarded a grant to demolish two building that were damaged by a tornado in 2011. The grant is for $74,925.
In addition, Duke Energy awarded the city a grant to help improve parks with trails to promote healthy living in the amount of $10,000.
“We are thrilled for Mayor Wirth and the residents of Oakland City,” stated Debbie Bennett-Stearsman, Vice President, Community Development.
The Economic Development Coalition’s Community Development division has helped secure over $9.1 million for community improvements which include water and sewer systems, a community center, fire equipment and planning grants for Oakland City as well as an additional $56 million for the region.
