State grant will help local projects

Gibson County's White River Township Hazelton - Volunteer Fire Department, was recently awarded a $400,000 grant by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) for a new fire station. The total cost of the project is estimated at $450,000.

OCRA also awarded last month the first project in Princeton as part of Indiana’s Stellar Communities Program for its downtown facades; an $84,100 demolition grant to the City of Boonville as part of a total $93,600 project; a $116,000 demolition grant to Warrick County to raze the former CARQUEST building and part of a total project costing $129,000; and, a demolition grant of $84,825 to raze tornado-damaged buildings in Oakland City.
