One person arrested, two hurt in Gibson County accident | News
GIBSON COUNTY, IN (WFIE)- One person has been arrested and an elderly Illinois couple was rushed to the hospital after an accident late Saturday night in Gibson County.
The two vehicle accident happened around 10:30pm on US 41 in front of Toyota.
Indiana State Police says 67-year-old Bill Sempsrote and his wife, 57-year-old Janet Sempsrote, both from Robinson, IL, were driving northbound on US 41 near C.R. 400 South. Troopers say 27-year-old Marcus Osborne was driving behind them and hit them, causing their vehicle to leave the roadway and roll over.
State police say Janet was ejected from the vehicle, and Bill had to be cut free from the wreckage with equipment.
Bill was taken to the St. Mary's by ambulance with a non-life threatening injury, while Janet was taken by LifeFlight with serious injuries. There's no word on their conditions, but authorities said both were talking to officials on scene.
Osborne was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge. Troopers say he had a blood alcohol content of .15% He was taken to Gibson County Jail where's he's being held on bond.
A stretch of US 41 was closed for about two hours while officials investigated the accident.
