Lawmakers working to remember fallen officers on Interstate
Officer Michael Deno was killed in the line of duty in February 2000. More than a decade later, state lawmakers are working to name a stretch of I-69 in his memory.
Senator Lindel Hume tells 14 News the original idea was to name a portion of the interstate after Deno and several other fallen state troopers.
Hume says legislators are now looking at a resolution to name a bridge, possibly the Patoka River Bridge, in honor of Deno.
Officils say the signage to remember the officers is a top priority and the pending resolutions should go through the Senate by the end of February.
