Gibson County sheriff says gun permits still in demand | News
Gibson County Sheriff George Ballard says his office is still handing out a record number of gun permits.
Speaking in front of a Gibson County Chamber of Commerce breakfast Tuesday morning, Ballard said in 2012 there were a total of 310 gun permit requests.
He says in January of 2013 alone, the sheriff's office had 156 requests. In February it had 81. That's a total of 237 requests in two months alone, and they keep coming in.
The sheriff says the number one question he receives is: How do you file a gun permit?
He says you just go to gibsoncountysheriff.com, and click the tab to fill out the request online. You get electronic finger prints, and pay a couple of fees, but after that the permit should come in rather quickly.
