New pool possibly coming to Princeton | News
PRINCETON, IN (WFIE)- It's been around for generations, but the Princeton city pool may be seeing its last days.
Princeton Mayor Bob Hurst says kids may soon be getting a new one to splash in.
The current pool was built in the 1950's making it the same age as Roberts Stadium.
Hurst says the city has had several problems with it. Just this past summer it had to be closed for about 2 weeks for renovations.
Hurst says he's getting estimates for how much an upgrade would cost, but says he would rather see a new pool go up instead.
He says about 70 percent of city people poles say they would like to see a new pool as well.
The mayor says estimates for the new aquatic center come out to about 3 million dollars, depending on amenities.
He says the new pool with be outdoors. "It'll have ground zero entry into it. It'll have lanes hopefully for swim team and diving. It'll have a kiddie area," he says.
Hurst says the city's financial consultants will be at the next council meeting on April 2nd, and council members might vote on the issue then.
