Alabama man arrested for OWI after 100 MPH jaunt | News
An Alabama man is in the Gibson County Jail after leading Fort Branch Police on a brief high speed chase Monday.
The sheriff’s office says officer Darrell Parker saw the red 1999 Honda Accord traveling 100 miles per hour on State Road 168 west of Fort Branch and tried to stop 48-year-old Bryan Wiggins of Vance, AL. However, the officer said Wiggins kept going westbound until he reached the city limits.
The officer says when he approached, Wiggins smelled of alcohol. Wiggins was taken to Gibson General Hospital where he was medically cleared and now faces charges of OWI with a prior conviction within five years, which is a felony. He’s also been charged with reckless driving.
Wiggins’ bond is set at $2,600, however other charges could be pending as the investigation progresses. The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
