Gibson Co. hosts first of its kinds "Outdoor Expo"

GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE)- If you're wondering what to do this weekend, you may consider heading out to Gibson County.

Princeton is having a first of it's kind event, and it's geared toward sports enthusiasts. 

They're going to have cooking and archery demonstrations, food vendors and others such as gun vendors.

They're also going to have a "You Sell Lot", where you'll be able to buy boats and ATVs and other things.

It's happening this Saturday, rain or shine.

Domestic violence offenders learning, giving back to abused animals

OWENSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- The Amends Program started three years ago after Tony Caldwell said he noticed a connection between animal abuse and domestic violence.

Caldwell operates the Indiana Horse Rescue in Owensville and took the opportunity to educate both victims and perpetrators of domestic violence, while raising money for abused horses.

OAKLAND CITY, IN (WFIE)- An Oakland City woman has been arrested on several charges including domestic battery after allegedly injuring her partner with a knife.

A crash late Tuesday afternoon on State Road 65 sent to people to the hospital. 

The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office told our media partner, the Princeton Daily Clarion that a car driven by 24-year-old Emily Tennes of Mt. Carmel went off the road just north of County Road 400 North.  Tennes lost control and slid sideways into the northbound lane.  That’s when she was struck by 18-year-old Garret Like’s pickup truck.

Like’s mother, Alice, was in the passenger seat and was taken to a Vincennes hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE)- If you're confused on which north Gibson school is in which building, you're not alone.  

School board members are asking the public for help in setting the record straight.  

The ultimate goal is to create the North Gibson Learning Campus, which is more than 200 acres for school buildings. 

Students in grades three through five from Brumfield Elementary will be moving into the west side of the old high school, while Brumfield undergoes a light remodel.  

Textbooks swapped for Chromebooks in Gibson Co. high school

It's a Chromebook, much like that of a laptop, and as Gibson Southern transitions to an online learning system, each student will have one.

Textbooks will soon be a thing of the past for one high school in Gibson County.

Starting this fall, students at Gibson Southern High School will be swapping textbooks for Chromebooks. 

Miner released from hospital after morning accident

GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE)- A coal miner was hurt Wednesday morning in Gibson County.

Peabody officials say the miner was hit by a piece of steel while roof bolting at the Francisco Mine.

He was taken to the hospital as precaution, and has been released. His name has not been made available to the public.
