Deputies say 55-year-old Peter A. Stewart was attempting to turn his company truck around in a no passing zone and failed to see another driver coming over the hill.

Stewart’s truck was struck by the other driver, who wasn’t identified by the sheriff’s department.  That driver was taken to Deaconess in Evansville for injuries to his neck and shoulder.

Vectren: Cold weather will impact upcoming bills

Vectren: Cold weather will impact upcoming bills

Even though spring is officially underway, Vectren says our April natural gas bill, which reflects March energy consumption, will likely be higher than normal due to March weather that was 32 percent colder than normal and 260 percent colder than March 2012 based on heating degree day data.

“This heating season certainly hung on longer than expected, especially compared to last winter’s very mild temperatures, and as such, furnaces were still running all the way through March,” said Doug Petitt, vice president of marketing and conservation. “While continued lower natural gas costs have made bills more manageable, the April bill will still be higher than expected because the cold weather drove an increase in usage.”

Semi bursts into flames, blocking traffic on I-64 for an hour

GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE)- A semi burst into flames in Southern Gibson County late Wednesday morning, shutting down part of Interstate 64 for about an hour.

Sheriff's deputies tell 14 News that 40-year old Thomas Harders was hauling steel from Alcoa in the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 near mile marker 28, when he heard a loud pop and pulled over, thinking he blew a tire.

Deputies say Harders noticed smoke, then fire. They say Harders tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful.
