Clerk: Counting votes should go smoothly

Clerk: Counting votes should go smoothly

Gibson County Clerk Becky Woodbrun says the issues with voting machines they experienced during last year's election should not be an issue this year.

During the 2010 election, a paper voting machine had a faulty memory pack, causing tabulation problems. Many times the machine would display an "Error" message, and were not counted. Workers were unable to begin recounting those votes that night due to that machinery issue, but the following day workers re-counted the votes by hand. The Gibson County Treasurer's Office was one local race that needed to be recounted.
