Special Addition to Toyota's Visitors Center

Special Addition to Toyota's Visitors Center

There is a new addition to Toyota's Visitors Center in Princeton: a 1967 Toyota Corona, one of the first vehicles ever made by Toyota, and the one that established Toyota's success in the U.S.

Corona, the first popular Toyota in America, was designed specifically for American drivers. With a powerful engine, factory-installed air conditioning and an automatic transmission, Corona helped increase U.S. sales of Toyota vehicles threefold in 1966 to more than 20,000 units.

It came from another museum in California and will be in Princeton for about two years.

Remembering Gil Hodges

Born in Princeton and a star at the old Petersburg High School, Gil Hodges is among the Tri-State's most famous athletes.  This time of year, baseball fans remember his heroics.  Hodges was an integral part of the great Brooklyn Dodger teams of the late 1940s and 50s.

Sixty years ago about this time, he was leading the Dodgers to the National League pennant.  They'd face the Yankees in the World Series but lost in seven games.
