Baseball pairings announced

The Mt. Vernon Wildcats will take on Gibson Southern in the opening round of the Class 3A IHSAA Baseball Sectional later this month.  Both teams received first round byes. 

Bosse and Memorial open the tournament at the University of Evansville with Princeton vs. Boonville to follow.  Whichever team emerges from that group will play the Mt. Vernon-Gibson Southern winner Monday, May 28 (Memorial Day) at 7 p.m.

Wizards of the court

The Harlem Wizards put on a show Sunday at the Princeton Community Middle School gym, helping the band boosters raise money while making sure everyone had a good time.

The school received a 50-50 split of admission proceeds, held a half pot drawing and proceeds from concessions.

In the photo above, Rashaan Barner, aka Rocket throws down a dunk   The Wizards won 93-82 after giving a team of local players including some teachers and coaches from Princeton 20-point boost at halftime.

Harlem Wizards coming to Princeton

The Harlem Wizards are coming to Princeton, April 22 at 2 pm.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the Princeton Band Boosters. The Booster provide support for all of the Princeton Community Schools Band Programs.

At a Wizards game fans see amazing basketball talent combined with hilarious family-friendly comedy. The athleticism, tricks and fancy teamwork and ball-handling wizardry, plus wild dunks not even seen in NBA games engages and wows the most avid hoops fans.  

The Wizards look to push the envelope on fun, combining pre-planned comedic acts with spontaneous humor that fans of all ages will find laugh out -loud funny. The halftime show with hundreds of kids on the court, plus the postgame interaction is the cherry on top as the Wizards stay until every autograph is signed.

Mighty Oaks win tournament

The Oakland City University Mighty Oaks won the Christian College Invitational Tournament 83-82 over the Rams of Ohio Mid-Western College Wednesday night.

The game was tight throughout. 

Mitch Stahl scored 21 points for OCU and Maurice Fuller had 20 for the Oaks, who are 21-8.

Stahl was named MVP and both Fuller and Eric Head were named to the all-tournament team.

CCIT tournament returns to Oakland City

CCIT tournament returns to Oakland City

The Christian College Invitation Tournament (CCIT) will be held in the Johnson Center on the campus of Oakland City University March 12-14.

Eight teams will compete for the championship, including OCU, Milligan College (TN), Ohio Mid-Western University, Indiana Dabney University, Virginia University-Lynchburg, Ecclesia College (AR), Rhema Bible College (OK), and Victory University (TN).

Boys' basketball sectional delayed one hour

The Class 3A Boys Basketball Sectional at Boonville High School has been delayed one hour. 

The first semi-final between Bosse and Boonville will now begin at 7 p.m. and the second semi-final between Princeton and Memorial will start at 8:30.
