Railroad crossing on 1250 S closed starting Tuesday

CSX will be closing the crossing at 1250 S (Warrenton Rd) located West of Flying J starting on Tuesday, February 14, according to the sheriff's department.

Repairs will keep the crossing closed for at least one week - possibly longer.

The repairs are similar to what needed to be fixed at the Coal Mine Rd crossing that is also being closed an additional week for repairs.

State Road 168 re-opens to traffic

Progress continues on construction of the I-69 Corridor in southwest Indiana.  Today, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) re-opened State Road 168 (S.R. 168) in Gibson County since being closed in July.

Although the roadway is open to traffic, additional work continues in the area.  Crews will be placing final pavement markings, seeding and sodding the area.

Crews ready to close another stretch of road for I-69

The Indiana Department of Transportation is announcing that beginning on November 22, County Road 300 South (C.R. 300 S) in Gibson County will close permanently for construction of I-69.

C.R. 300 S will be closed from the junction of County Road 850E (C.R. 850E) to the junction of County Road 450 East (C.R. 450E) in Gibson County. Crews will begin work at approximately 7:00 a.m. local time, weather permitting.

Norfolk Southern Corporation plans to hire 500 employees in eight states by the end of 2011 to meet the growing demand for freight rail service and to replace employees retiring in coming years.  Some of those jobs are in Princeton.

The railroad is seeking applicants as conductors, freight car repairers, machinists, signal maintainers, and track workers.
